As June came to a close and July began, the CISB Summer Camp launched into two wonderful weeks of discovery, laughter, and connection. From our youngest campers in K1, K2, and K3 to the older students in Grades 201A and 201B, every child embraced new experiences and grew in their own unique way.
In Week 1, our little ones explored the theme “Me Myself.” They bravely introduced themselves, expressed feelings with words like “happy,” “excited,” and “sleepy,” and learned body parts through the lively song “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.” Creative wax-resist painting sparked their imagination, while daily routines encouraged polite words like “please” and “thank you.” Sharing toys, encouraging each other during snacks, and outdoor activities like Scooting, jumping, and kicking built both motor skills and kindness.
Week 2 brought the theme “We Are Connected.” K1 children made friendship cards, crafted pretend cupcakes with playdough, and celebrated a classmate’s birthday with shared joy. K2 kids painted “hand” artworks to show caring and practised taking turns on scooters and bicycles, using polite greetings. K3 campers delved into “Family,” sharing stories about their loved ones and discovering that every family is special. Through music, art, martial arts, swimming, and outdoor play, each day was filled with fresh challenges—and every morning began with smiles and ended with even bigger ones.
Our older campers enjoyed a rich blend of intellectual and physical challenges. In Week 1, they immersed themselves in the “AI Future City” and “3D Minecraft Maker” projects—designing city plans, building models, programming with Microbit, creating a smart airport system, and using 3D pens to craft imaginative structures. At the same time, they were introduced to traditional Chinese instruments such as the guzheng, ruan, and erhu, learning basic fingering and appreciating folk music. In sports, boys practiced freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke, while girls explored artistic swimming; Tai Chi classes taught them the grace of balancing strength and softness.
Week 2 deepened the learning: the Future City projects culminated in confident student presentations on eco-solutions, renewable energy, and AI applications. Art classes took them on a global journey—from African art and medieval paintings to the Renaissance and the masterful light techniques of Rembrandt and Vermeer. Instrumental training advanced to one-on-one coaching, with some students already performing complete pieces like “The Smiling, Proud Wanderer” and “Fengyang Flower Drum.” In PE, swimming, artistic swimming, fitness drills, and Tai Chi five-step routines rotated throughout the week, allowing each child to make significant progress in their chosen skills.
Over these two weeks, we witnessed countless precious “firsts”—from a toddler’s first independent introduction to an elementary student’s first finished 3D print and first complete musical performance. We saw children learn to care for one another, build confidence through challenges, and broaden their horizons through diverse cultural experiences. We are deeply grateful to every parent for entrusting us with your wonderful children. It is our privilege to walk alongside them during this sparkling summer. More exciting adventures lie ahead—let’s look forward to many more beautiful moments of growth!
